Join us on a unique journey and discover a manual therapy approach that stands out from the rest.

Fascial Counterstrain (FCS) is a manual therapy technique that gently addresses pain and dysfunction by targeting the root cause: interstitial inflammatory stasis. Unlike traditional methods that often involve direct muscle stretching or manipulation, FCS focuses on relieving tender points within the fascial system, which surrounds areas of inflammation. Inflammation frequently serves as the underlying cause of pain and dysfunction. FCS honors the body's inherent capacity to maintain functionality amidst trauma, whether physical or emotional. This method is subtle, highly accurate, painless, and induces significant relief. By enhancing mobility, restoring function, and assisting the body's return to a state of health and well-being, Fascial Counterstrain proves to be a beneficial therapeutic approach.

What is Fascia?

Fascia, the connective tissue enveloping our entire body, is essential to our muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, blood vessels, organs, and nerves. The fascial system not only supports our body but also forms a highly innervated network that can be a source of pain. Fascia plays a vital role in maintaining structural integrity and enabling pain-free movement.

Recent research has shown that the fascial system has contractile properties similar to muscle tissue. The difference between muscular and fascial contraction is their function: muscles contract to enable movement, while fascia contracts to provide protection. Interestingly, when fascia contracts, it can stimulate receptors that cause our muscles to contract, which may appear as a tight muscle.
